120 Years of Korean Immigration
and the ROK-U.S. Alliance – KAFGW

The Korean American Foundation – Greater Washington is organizing 2 events to celebrate the 18th Korean American Day and 120 years of Korean immigration dating from the first Korean immigrant arrivals at Hawaii on January 13, 1903.

The Jan 8th public ceremony will be an international production including U.S. Congressman Gerald Connolly of Virginia and other speakers, music (the Presence Trio), Seungmu (Intangible Cultural Heritage dance) and other performances.

2023 marks 70 years of the U.S. – Korea Alliance. There will be a Congressional Lunch forum on Jan. 10 as a special addition to the Korean American Day celebration this year. This event is by invitation only but will be live streamed on YouTube.

MISSION STATEMENT

Our mission is to honor the achievements of the Korean American community, to express our gratitude to American citizens for the opportunity to live in freedom and prosperity, to illuminate the pioneering efforts of our immigrant predecessors, to organize a Korean American Day
celebration on January 13
, and to pass on an awareness and appreciation of the accomplishments of Korean immigrants to future Korean American generations.
